Mailrelay API Reference

Permissions & tools

MCP server · Beta

When you connect, you decide what the assistant may do. It only sees the tools you granted, so an assistant without the Send permission can't send a campaign, however it's asked.

Four kinds of permission

Read

View your data. Changes nothing.

Write

Create and edit records, such as subscribers, groups and campaign drafts.

Send

Send campaigns and messages to real recipients by email, SMS or WhatsApp.

Delete

Remove data. Grant it only when you need it.

Choosing permissions

When you log in, Mailrelay asks how much access the assistant should have:

Option What the assistant can do
Read-only View your data. Nothing can be created, changed, sent or deleted.
Read and write (default) View, create and edit your data. It can't send campaigns or delete data.
Full access Everything above, plus sending campaigns and messages and deleting data.
Choose specific permissions Pick each permission one by one, by area.

The areas are Contacts, Email campaigns, Transactional email, SMS, Transactional SMS, WhatsApp, Transactional WhatsApp, Ecommerce, Media library and Webhooks. Reading your account information (stats and package usage) is always included. You can only grant permissions that your own user has.

Each section of this reference is available to the assistant as up to four tools, one per permission, such as subscribers_read or campaigns_send.

Changing permissions

Remove the connector in your assistant and add it again: Mailrelay asks for the permissions on every connection. Every action is attributed to the user who approved the connection.
